Although the Government Accountability Office (GAO), in a recent report, stated that no information currently exists showing that Department of Justice (DOJ) grants were awarded to nonprofit organizations to pay cash bonds for bail, there are no agencywide prohibitions that would prevent DOJ grant funds from being used for this purpose.
