You have probably seen this sentiment expressed a thousand times in other places, so consider this your 1,001st time. We are now less than two weeks away from Election Day, and let me join in with countless others to advise you to go out and vote! For all of those out there that have stood in long lines to vote early and who have submitted their votes by mail, good job! Remember, Election Day is not the only day you can vote, it is essentially the last day to vote, so make your vote count between now and the time polls close on Nov. 3.

Remember that this is not just simply a presidential election — there are numerous House and Senate races across the country that could impact the future direction of our nation. Grant recipients should be aware that Congress appropriates funding for federal agency grant programs. We constantly stress the importance of maintaining your grant funding, so recipients should carefully study the preferences of their congressional candidates to ensure that they are supportive of their grant programs.

A couple of years ago, we quoted George Washington, our nation’s first president, who said, “Differences in political opinion are as unavoidable as, to a certain point, they may perhaps be necessary.” This country will always have differences of opinion politically, but at least we are free to express those opinions. And most of all, we can express those opinions by voting. Don’t let George down, go vote!
