Joe Biden was officially sworn in Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2020, as the 46th U.S. president. His speech sought to encourage national unity and overcome the political divides that grip our nation. We will see going forward whether or not that endeavor gains any traction.

Biden has already requested that Congress pass another $1 trillion COVID-19 relief package, which includes billions in relief for states and small business. Whether such legislation will have enough bipartisan support remains to be seen. The new president also has numerous other priorities as he enters office. To find out more, we have updated an earlier article we posted on potential impacts under the Biden Administration and have again made the article temporarily available without a subscription on our website.

While the inauguration ceremony was taking place at the Capitol, other back-end changes were being made. As of noon Wednesday, the Whitehouse.gov website, including the Office of Management and Budget website, switched over from the Trump administration to the Biden administration. Performance.gov also features a "hold page" as the Biden administration determines what to include as part of its Presidential Management Agenda. Over the next few days, other federal agency websites will continue to transfer to the new administration. Grant applicants and recipients may want to check out the updated sites to determine where to find important information as the look and feel may have changed.

We at Thompson Grants will continue to provide you with updated information that may affect grant programs, particularly if previous executive orders are reversed or agency rules are changed. Stay tuned as we enter this new American chapter.
